The Farer Chrono-Classic with its copper-pink dial secretly makes us long for car shows and events this summer. In this article, we further explain this fantastic timepiece.

Introduction

Farer is a watch manufacturer founded in 2015 and is relatively new with its 8 years on the clock. Yet in those 8 years they have come a long way and have an impressive number of beautiful timepieces on their record.

The name “Farer” was chosen from a part of the word “Wayfarer” which stands for someone who travels, discovers things. This philosophy is reflected in all of their timepieces which might make this Chrono-Classic the ideal companion for your next adventure.

There is no shortage of personalization and heritage as the Farer Chrono-Classic is available in 3 variants: Jackson, Swann and Meredith. These names refer to the surnames of 3 British athletes (Arnold Jackson, Sidney Swann en Leonard Meredith) who competed in the 1912 Summer Olympics and won a gold medal. 1912 was also the year when the use of chronographs to time athletes became most prolific.

We list the differences and similarities in these 3 versions for you below.

Jackson

The Jackson version features a square relief blue navy pique dial with a bi-compax chronograph. The hour and second hands are finished in polished silver with Super-Luminova infill. The hour markers are worked out in the same style and at the top also feature Super-Luminova. This makes the movement easy to read in the dark. The seconds hand and minute hands of the chronograph are in light blue which contrasts nicely with the dark blue dial. The indication of the date has the same background color as that of the dial with a white font so that it blends into the whole of the watch. The watch strap is made of overstitched St. Venere leather with a 316L stainless steel clasp.

Swann

The Swann version has a magenta sunray dial with white Arabic numerals that partially disappear at 2 o’clock, 4 o’clock, 8 o’clock and 10 o’clock due to the oversized chronograph. The hour and minute display are also identical to the Jackson version but the second display here is in a bright orange. In addition, the movement has a telemeter scale instead of a tachymeter scale found on the other 2 models. The watch strap is in overstitched Granola leather with a 316L stainless steel buckle closure.

Meredith

The Meredith version is our personal favorite. It is similar in design to the Jackson and Swann but has a beautiful salmon pink-copper dial with blue Arabic numerals that contributes to better legibility and a very stylish look. The chrono, hour and second hands are in the same blue color as the Arabic numerals and feature a beautiful contrasting yellow Super-Luminova infill. The yellow Super-Luminova is also found as a discreet dot just above the Arabic numerals. The subtle transition of the salmon pink dial with the white background of the tachymeter scale and the silver outer ring ensure that the watch forms a beautiful whole. Like the Jackson version, the watch strap is made of overstitched St. Venere leather with a 316L stainless steel buckle closure. The watch strap is available in a range of different colors (burgundy, tan, navy, marine, chocolate brown, agave green, black) if the standard blue one is not your cup of tea. The only point of criticism we have is the blue color of the date which is more difficult to read compared to the white date display of the Jackson and Swann versions.

Movement

If you thought the beautiful design was the only thing this timepiece excels at, you are wrong. What is under the hood of this timepiece is at least as impressive. The DD2022 movement of the famous clockmaker Dubois Dépraz was chosen as the motor for powering this amazing automatic timepiece. The automatic movement has a power reserve of 43 hours and a thickness of only 6.9 mm. It is decorated with blue screws and has a bronze-colored rotor with cut-outs referring to a turbine. There is also a 5-year warranty on the movement hence validating the quality once more.

Case

The case of the 3 versions is made of marine-grade steel and with its diameter of 39mm and height of 13.2mm is very wearable on the wrist. Both the top and bottom are fitted with anti-reflective sapphire glass, allowing the beautifully finished inner workings to be seen along the bottom. A free inscription of the case is also possible when you place your order for the ultimate personalisation. The timepiece with its 100m water resistance can certainly withstand a splash of water but swimming or showering with the leather strap we do not directly recommend.
