The CiRCULA Sport Watch Under the Magnifying Glass, German class and craftsmanship.

A steel sports watch from CiRCULA is the perfect companion in any situation and does not look out of place on any occasion. Functionality and reliability go hand in hand with modern German design and aesthetics. Find out all about it in this article.

History

When we think of timepieces, it is usually Switzerland that is cited as the country. However, there are several other countries that have a long history of designing and making high quality timepieces.

CiRCULA, a German micro brand, has a history rooted in Black Forest watchmaking tradition, dating back to 1926 when the Huber family founded the watch and jewelry wholesaler Huber & Co.

The brand itself was founded in 1955 by Heinz Huber in Pforzheim, a well-known goldsmith city, and is now run by Cornelius Huber, the grandson and third generation of the family. The name CiRCULA was inspired by the circular motion of the balance wheel in mechanical timepieces. Recognized as one of the oldest family-owned microwatch brands in the world, CiRCULA is known for its high-quality “tool watches” or “toolwatches” and its connection to the rich history of watchmaking in Pforzheim.

The watch

High-quality steel sports watches, also called GADA (Go-Anywhere-Do-Anything) watches, are distinguished by premium materials, precise technology and outstanding craftsmanship.

Made of high-quality 316L stainless steel, they are a reliable and stylish companion in any situation. The scratch-resistant sapphire glass guarantees durability and optimal readability, thanks to three layers of anti-reflective coating on the inside.

With the introduction of the Facet, CiRCULA sets a high standard within the world of steel sports watches – a model of uncompromising quality and precise workmanship. The Facet combines ruggedness, water resistance, versatility and timeless design. Ideal for any occasion, the timepiece effortlessly balances functionality and aesthetics.

Design and Features

The Facet uniquely combines sporty performance and modern elegance. The Facet borrows its name from the dial which is composed of faceted surfaces in a circle, thus giving full credit to the name CiRCULA. With its 38mm wide watch case, it is also suitable for a slightly smaller wrist combined with a thickness of only 9.9 mm.

Under the hood we find the Swiss automatic La Joux Perret G100 movement with an excellent power reserve of 68 hours in the Soigné (Elaboré) version. The movement is tuned with a daily deviation of -5 seconds to +7 seconds just outside the COSC standard. Developed in the 2000s, the La Joux Perret G100 movement is a modern alternative to older calibers such as the ETA 2824, which dates back to the 1970s. The inner workings can be admired through the transparent glass bottom. Here we find a nicely decorated tungsten palladium-coated rotor with the brand name printed on it. The interior itself is also nicely finished with “Côtes de Genève”. These are parallel, wave-like lines meticulously applied to the surface of the interior.

The slim case, captivating faceted dial and sophisticated finish with alternating surface textures provide a stylish look. The scratch resistant sapphire glass with and Swiss Super-LumiNova® guarantee excellent legibility. The hands are Palladium-plated and the indexes are filled with Swiss Super-LumiNova® which together with the 3 times applied anti-reflective coating on the sapphire glass guarantee excellent legibility. In addition, the background of the date indicator is executed in the same color of the dial with the date on it in a white contrasting text. The crown on the side is decorated with the letter C, the first letter of the logo. Water is no problem for the Facet either, its 100m or 10 ATM water resistance makes the timepiece perfect for a stylish day at the beach or pool.

The dial is available in 3 different color finishes: Petrol green, brown and silver. The watch strap is also available in steel or suede leather version. We start with the steel version, the ergonomically shaped links offer high wearing comfort, while the sturdy construction ensures durability and style. CiRCULA illustrates their attention to detail with the choice between two versions: one with a butterfly clasp and another with a folding clasp with micro-adjustment that allows “on the fly” adjustment of the strap. Both variants feature a quick-change mechanism, making it easy to change straps without tools.

This brings us seamlessly to the next suede/leather version, because why not purchase an additional strap along which adds an extra look to this beautiful timepiece. The straps are also available in 1 of 3 colors to match your chosen dial color or mix and match with your personal style or preference.

In terms of price, the Facet starts from 1690 euros for the version with a suede/leather strap. If you prefer to buy a version with a steel strap, the version with the butterfly clasp will cost you 1990 euros and for the version with folding clasp and micro-adjustment you will pay 2060 euros. An additional suede/leather strap as an option will cost you 69 euros.
