Ferrari F40 book by Keith Bluemel

Before you might think ‘another Ferrari F40 book’ you might want to read on because this one is slightly different.

Ferrari F40

The Ferrari F40 is said to be the last new model presented in the presence of Enzo Ferrari. When the F40 was presented to the world in 1987, it was met with astonishment as it was a serious stylistic departure from the past.

The F40 would become the second Ferrari launched in the 1980s to be produced only on a limited basis. Like the earlier Ferrari 288 GTO, it is a racer for public roads.

The name F40 stands for the F of Ferrari and the 40 refers to the 40th anniversary of Ferrari car production.

Customers could order an F40 in any colour as long as it was red. It was a fast car that was also very radical. No sophisticated gadgets in the cockpit. Nay this was a real driver’s car with as few distractions as possible.

Like its predecessor the 288 GTO, the F40 features a tubular steel chassis but now boasts a 478bhp twin-turbo, 2963cc, 90° V8 engine.

From 1989 to 1996, he successfully competed in top-level national and international competitions.

The book contains numerous appendices where you can find all the info on the F40s ever produced. Every chassis number with production date is listed. If it is about a chassis with special features, these are also neatly written out.

Part of the appendices is e.g. dedicated to the plates scattered around the car. The chassis number plate but also the colour label etc. There is a distinction even here between EU and US versions.
