Shadow: A book about the beautiful machines of a mysterious man.

Shadow is a car brand that rings a bell only for lovers of motor racing from the 1970s. They built Canam, Formula 1 and Formula 5000 cars. These creations were certainly among the most beautiful of the period. At the base of all this beauty: Don Nichols.

Author Pete Lyons has published a book on the occasion of Shadow’s 50th anniversary with the complete history of both the brand itself and its founder Don Nichols.

You can find everything in it: Don’s life story, the founding of Shadow and a chronological overview of what happened in their 10 years of existence. All technical info, races, the palmares, a lot of anecdotes, interviews with the pilots and technicians and his conversations with Don Nichols himself. Lyons has experienced this period as a journalist and therefore he was the perfect man for this work.

The book is a gem for readers. It is primarily aimed at true motor sports specialists, but we are convinced that it can also appeal to other car enthusiasts. The author needed 140,000 words to tell the story, which is accompanied by 600 photos, over 464 pages.

At the end of last year, the book was awarded the prize for the best motor sports book by the English Royal Automobile Club. This prestigious award was fully deserved. The book is published by Evro and can be ordered on their website or in specialised bookshops with the ISBN-978-1-910505-49-6 code. We can only recommend it to you because it is a fascinating story about an equally fascinating man: The “Shadowman” Don Nicols.
