MONDAY 15 JULY – 235KM TOWARDS SONG KUL

Last night the three of us slept in the Bukhanka, for this we had to take out a seat. Pitching the tent would not have been easy with all those boulders hence our choice. Well, we were promised an adventurous road trip didn’t we.

We still had some bread with us so had a quiet breakfast. And quiet it certainly was because we still hadn’t heard from our Dutch friends. Once we were back on the road and had coverage again, we got Urmat on the phone. He was able to reassure us that everyone was fine. He also told us that they might be stuck for a while and that it was best for us to continue our route.

Tuesday, July 9 – 346km towards Osh

Last night, the combo of sleeping mat and sleeping bag turned out not to be so great after all. When we rolled out of our tent at 6 am, it turned out that quite a few team members were already awake. The rising sun and the view soon made us forget the inferior night. We had a long drive ahead of us so we left well on time.

The landscapes are constantly changing, which is what makes the country so special. If you drive about 100 kilometres further, nature can look completely different. Osh is located a lot further south, and it shows because the green landscape from above is gradually being exchanged for more arid nature.

Where are you going? And where is that? And is it safe? Those are just about the most frequently asked questions over the last six months when I told about the road trip I would be taking with Loïc and Dieter in the summer of 2024.

Ok, it is not really well known (yet). According to some sources, it was the least known country on earth in 2015. Meanwhile, things have changed but for many people it still sounds like faraway gistan. And that is completely unjustified, in this report I take you through perhaps one of the most beautiful countries in the world.
