From 12 to 14 August, the engines roar again on the legendary Nürburg circuit. For this 49th edition, all the registers will be pulled open. After the version behind closed doors in 2020 and the cancelled version in 2021, it is now time again for a normal Oldtimer Grand Prix.
Ruim 500 ingeschreven auto’s
The AvD-Oldtimer-Grand-Prix is one of the most traditional classic car festivals in Europe and thus the climax of the event in Germany. With around 500 classic racing cars from the 1920s to the early 1980s, this event is a real journey through time.
So at the AvD-Oldtimer-Grand-Prix, there is literally something for everyone.
Highlights
I would like to sum up some of the main points for you. You can expect the following series.
Pre-War sports cars, Master Racing Legends with the fastest single-seaters from Formula 1. Think March, Tyrrel, Lotus, Brabham, Hesketh and many others.
The HGPCA Formula 1 ran until 1965, in this class we find machines like Fangio’s Maserati 250F, Ferrari Dino’s, a large number of Coopers, Brabhams, Lola’s and Lotuses.
Formula 2 and the popular Formula Junior with the ‘Lurani Trophy’ are not to be missed. They do four runs every day.
One of the many highlights is the race for racing sports cars and GTs up to 1965. The popular evening race on Saturday evening is especially worthwhile.
DRM
Of course, the cars from the former DRM should not be missing either. It is now called the DTM Classic Cup but it is mainly about cars from the German Rennsport Meisterschaft. You see here mainly cars from the late 80s to early 90s. Think of the BMW 320 Turbo, the BMW M1, the Ford Capri’s, Porsche 935 and many more.
Of course, there is much more to it than what we are writing here, but this should be enough to make you really want to go to one of the most mythical tracks in the world.
